Illegal Delivery Service In Texas

Many, (if not most), individuals and businesses offering to pickup and deliver Craigslist purchases, (such as appliances, furniture and bedding), in Texas are operating ILLEGALLY.
These service providers are usually found in the Services - Labor / Move category of Craigslist.

Any business or individual offering to transport any quantity of household goods, (including but not limited to bedding, furniture and appliances), for pay or hire MUST register with the Texas Department Of Transportation, obtain a TXDOT Registration Number, and fully comply with ALL of the laws, rules, and regulations related to household goods movers in Texas. These laws are for the protection of YOU, the consumer.

When your are viewing Craigslist postings, (or any other websites / online advertising), look for a TXDOT Registration Number and the TXDOT Toll Free Number in the advertising. If you do not see it, the business is violating the law. If you contact a business by telephone by telephone or email ask them if they are registered with TXDOT as a Household Goods Mover and have a valid TXDOT registration number. If they cannot furnish this information, they are violating the law.

Refuse to put your valuable property at risk by patronizing a business which is violating the law.
Report businesses and individuals who are violating the law by reporting them to TXDOT.
